Mary

MARY
As you’re standing here alone
the world seems to move on her own
your loss has bared you to the bone
a weight like stone upon your heart
And you ooh ooh ooh try to understand
while you ooh ooh ooh cried all night again
She has gone into the void
existence beyond comprehension
whispers through the dark of night
and dreams of her in new dimensions
But you ooh ooh ooh want her by your side
And you ooh ooh ooh miss her all the time
As her face appears before your eyes
in dream’s disguise, you know, you know, it’s her
She was there when you were born
she held you in her arms and loved you
nothing can severe this bond
not even shadows, silence, darkness
Coz’ you ooh ooh ooh love beyond this life
And you ooh ooh ooh love her for all times
Mary won’t you show your face before his eyes
Without disguise, he knows, he knows, it’s you
It’s you ooh ooh ooh
It’s you ooh ooh ooh
It’s you ooh ooh ooh
It’s you

No Relief

NO RELIEF
You walked out of the house, I couldn’t bear
to see you disappear down the road
You cut the ropes, you set yourself free
while we carried this load
running down the road trying to catch you
to scratch you, to scream
falling to my knees crying I let you
destroy my inner peace
destroy my inner peace
You walked out of our lives and I knew
it had been you I depended on
nothing more I could have said or done
but just go on, on my own
And while my life was turning upside down
now you were gone, I lost my ground
lost in the ocean of my grief
and no relief, I carried on
on, I carried on, on, I carried on
Tell me, did you sleep at night,
could you be alright on the other side of this…..
I missed you
I missed you
I missed you

Nobody Knows
03:10
|

NOBODY KNOWS
He comes to me in the chill of the night
He tells me his life is now empty without me in sight
He says all around how his world has changed
I know that it's true but oftentimes strange
I put my arms around him but he feels me not
No words can he hear and it breaks my heart
Though I try to comfort him and stop his tears
he only cries on and tells me his fears
So he visits my grave when the night winds blow
He visits me still when moonlight glows
He visits my grave when the night winds blow
He visits me still when moonlight glows
But nobody knows, nobody sees, nobody knows but me
Nobody knows, nobody sees, nobody knows but me
Nobody knows but me

The River

THE RIVER
I’ve seen the river flow
and seen the river rise
I’ve seen the river freeze
and heard the river sigh
the waters dark the waters deep
full of ancient mystery
now what should I believe
you’re no longer here with me
you were my morning star
you were my sweetest lie
I’ve known heaven
now I see the evening sky
the wind as cold as ice
clouds like castles passing by
I’ve seen the buzzard fly
reigning the blue sky
his call a piercing cry
oh give me a reason why!
you were my morning star
you were my sweetest lie
I’ve known heaven
now I see the evening sky
the wind as cold as ice
clouds like castles passing by
clouds like castles passing by
passing by
passing by

Days And Nights

DAYS AND NIGHTS
I've seen days and nights
I’ve seen seasons pass by
I’ve seen faces grow old
while children forever young
play on the streets outside
I've seen so many tears
flowing into the ocean
of sadness on earth
my darling it seems
I've lived a thousand years
But my wings now take me high
leaving all the past behind
And fly whoohoohoo fly
to paradise
I've seen lonely times
in a world so strange
world of silent whispers
world of ghosts heart of love
heart of mine, heart of mine
Silence no words in my mind
Silence no words in my mind
And my wings now take me high
leaving all the past behind
And fly whoohoohoo fly
to paradise
And my wings now take me high
leaving all the past behind
And fly whoohoohoo fly
to paradise
I’ll fly, whoo, I’ll fly
to paradise
with you

Old Paper Photograph

OLD PAPER PHOTOGRAPH
Small paper photograph so old and so worn.
With edges serrated and corners now torn.
Tell me a tale in black and white.
Give me a glimpse of what it was like.
How beautiful you were with your lips tinted red.
I wonder your name but the ink never said.
I've wondered as well by the look in your eye,
how often you loved, how often you cried.
So tell me old photograph who can you be?
Could your young face really be me?
How does this happen for it hasn't been long,
But time is fleeting as quick as this song.
There you are still frozen in time.
So stylishly dressed right up to the nines.
Sleep sweetly my photograph as you're returned to the drawer
hiding in darkness for many and more.
Joining the others stacked in a heap.
Forgotten by many unless they should seek.
Forgotten by me until our eyes should next meet.

Almost Heaven

ALMOST HEAVEN
It was heaven
when I saw you
when I looked into your eyes
I had wandered
mostly lonely
so it came as a surprise
it must have been the angels
who decided
it must have been our God
and we were guided
it was heaven
us together
when you kissed me
and I kissed you
we were dancing
stars around us
we were dancing and you felt it too
it must have been the angels
who decided
it must have been our God
and we were guided
then we fell
unto the earth and
we were tumbling from the skies above
we were wounded
we were hurt and
how to get back we did not know
we’re go go going going home
we know know know by now where to go
Almost heaven
when I see you
when I look into your eyes

And I Miss You

AND I MISS YOU
The trees we loved so much
have lost their leaves again
The branches bare reaching out
to me make no sense
anymore
anymore
anymore to me
A lonely bird is singing
in it's lovely voice
All the way on top
of the highest branch of all
I don't feel
I don't feel
it's song anymore
For so many years
my days were filled with you
you were my life my love
you were my everything my all
my life my love
my everything my all
my everything my all
And when I see your face
no longer in my mind
there is a place where
I will go to once it's time
I will go
I will go
and be with you once again
For so many years
my days were filled with you
you were my life my love
you were my everything my all
my life my love
my everything my all
my life my love
and I miss you
and I miss you
and I miss you
and I miss you

My Lover's Eyes
03:10
|

MY LOVER'S EYES
I start to understand
What's hidden
in my lover's eyes
I start to understand
his feelings of all this time
And all I can say is
even if he goes
I love him forever more
and all I can say is
even if he leaves
I love him I love him so
I see the depth the anguish
the love in my lover's eyes
I see his deep confusion
and all he tries not to say
And all I can say is
whoooo
I love him so
and all I can say is
whoooo
I love him so
There's nothing I can do now
to be in my lover's heart
There's nothing I can do and
we'll be so very far apart
And all I can say is
whoooo
I love him still
and all I can say is
whoooo
I love him so
His eyes the eyes of lion
I've seen so many times
His eyes I thought they were meant
to be just mine
but oh my lover chooses to be far away
and all I can say is
whoooo
I love him so
and all I can say is
whoooo
I love him so
and all I can say is
whoooo
I love him so

She

SHE
She
She built her life
upon the ruins
of our loss
she, she wanted in
she wanted you
at all this cost
She helped you break down
ruin our love to this degree
Oh why did she?
it couldn't be...
We
we have to deal
with this destruction
of our love
with lies dishonesty
with fractured shattered bones
with judgment and anger
worries and things for all to see
Oh why did you?
Betray me?
She knew about me
She knew about me
Toi
tu m'as trompé
tu m'as mentí
tu m'as blessé
toi, tes mots d'amour
ne sont pas vrai
sans vérité
complicité en destruction
de toi même
oh mon amour
la verité
complicité en destruction
de toi même
oh mon amour
la verité
You

Judy Benschop writes authentic and sensitive folksongs; silent fragments from a turbulent life. She has a light, clear voice that makes her sound lovely as well as fragile. She sings straight from the heart and knows how to touch the listener. She does this in such a subtle way that you almost don't notice, but in the meantime her songs grab you and the melodies nestle themselves in your head. ... more
