lyrics

OLD PAPER PHOTOGRAPH

Small paper photograph so old and so worn.
With edges serrated and corners now torn.

Tell me a tale in black and white.
Give me a glimpse of what it was like.

How beautiful you were with your lips tinted red.
I wonder your name but the ink never said.

I've wondered as well by the look in your eye,
how often you loved, how often you cried.

So tell me old photograph who can you be?
Could your young face really be me?

How does this happen for it hasn't been long,
But time is fleeting as quick as this song.

There you are still frozen in time.
So stylishly dressed right up to the nines.

Sleep sweetly my photograph as you're returned to the drawer
hiding in darkness for many and more.

Joining the others stacked in a heap.
Forgotten by many unless they should seek.
Forgotten by me until our eyes should next meet.

about

Judy Benschop Vero Beach, Florida

Judy Benschop writes authentic and sensitive folksongs; silent fragments from a turbulent life. She has a light, clear voice that makes her sound lovely as well as fragile. She sings straight from the heart and knows how to touch the listener. She does this in such a subtle way that you almost don't notice, but in the meantime her songs grab you and the melodies nestle themselves in your head. ... more
